This Sunday I am starting a new sermon series titled “Seeking and Finding.” Throughout the teaching of Jesus, He frequently presented scenarios where a person was seeking for something and eventually finding something, applying the situation to the spiritual life. Jesus did this because there is a need within every human that causes us to seek for something to meet that need. The teaching of Jesus shows us the way to find what we are seeking for. The question is, will we follow the way Jesus lays out for us?
In this first message we are looking at the most obvious passages where Jesus taught about seeking. In Matthew 7 we are invited to ask, seek, and knock to find what we need is answered, found and opened. A few verses later Jesus presents there are two ways we can follow as we seek to find what we need: the narrow way or the broad way. While the board way may seem more appealing, but in the end, it leads to the greatest restriction to finding what we need; destruction and death. The narrow way seems very restrictive, and it is, but it leads to the greatest spaciousness and plenty. How to find the right way? Join me this Sunday as we look at Jesus’ instruction on how to find the way to the Father’s blessing.
