One of the most famous speeches given in modern history is Sir Winston Churchhill’s “We shall fight on the beaches . . .” speech at a critical point of WWII. Read this critical part:
"Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail... we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender..."
That famous speech gave hope to the people of the British empire and inspired them to fight back against the perils of evil, eventually defeating Nazi Germany. Hope is a critical factor in facing the uncertainty of future.
For Christians, there is no greater hope than Christ’s resurrection. By rising from the dead three days after the crucifixion, Jesus proved God’s victory over life and death and assured us that God has a plan beyond this life. Whatever trials we face, we can trust in the ultimate hope of resurrection and eternal life with God in heaven. God loves every part of you—body, soul, and spirit. At salvation, we are born again, made spiritually alive, and this spirit is eternal. When believers die, their souls are taken to be with God in heaven. At the end of the age, Christ will return, and the bodies of those who died in faith will be raised. God will not allow any part of us—or of our loved ones who died in faith—to remain eternally separated from him, including our physical bodies. This is our greatest hope.
