Having a sense of purpose is one of the most important aspects of human flourishing. Having a purpose is what gives us a drive to push on through difficult times and have hope for the future. Hitching your purpose to the wrong thing will be devastating when that reality becomes apparent.

In Luke 19 we meet a guy named Zacheus who was a man of purpose but was living for the wrong kind of purpose. Zacheus pursued the purpose of wealth and comfort, only to find that it left him empty, seeking something else. One day Jesus came through his town, and he decided to see if he could get to know more about Jesus. After getting to know Jesus, Zacheus’s life was not just affected or alter. No, he was a completely transformed man.  The very thing that he previously found his purpose in, wealth and comfort, became expendable. He gave it away. He could do this because he found a purpose with meaning and eternal significance in a relationship with God through Jesus.

What is the purpose that drives your life? It doesn’t matter how old you are or the amount of wealth you have. A purpose anchored in Jesus will transcend both of those. Both our lives and our possessions will become agents God can use for His eternal glory, resulting in an unparalleled experience of joy for you.
