Most of us would never call ourselves mighty warriors, but that is exactly what God called Gideon, a man hiding in fear and convinced he was the least qualified person around. The story of Gideon in Judges 6 mirrors a pattern we see in our own lives and in our culture today. When Israel turned from God, they lost their blessing, retreated into hiding, and were slowly absorbed by a culture of false gods. God did not look for the most qualified person to deliver them. He looked for someone willing to trust that His presence was enough. Before Gideon ever raised an army, God called him to tear down the false idols in his own community, because the real battle was spiritual before it was physical. The same is true for us. Valor is not about talent or status. It is about stepping out of the winepress, naming what is false, and trusting that God goes with you.
