Our Senior Pastor

Hi - My name is Andrew and I’m the pastor of the church. I have been married to my wonderful wife and ministry partner Sue since 1988. Sue is a teacher at Carolina Beach Elementary School right here on the Island. We have three adult children; Katie, Amy & Chris, as well as four grandchildren that we love spending time with as often as we can.  Sue and I enjoy kayaking, long walks on the beach, traveling and watching movies. 

I have been a pastor for over 30 years and still love what I do. I would characterize my preaching style as expository narrative: I attempt to preach from a biblical text of scripture and make it relative to our lives today through real life stories that add flesh and emotion to the Word of God. I have always thought it did not make much sense to keep preaching if people do not relate to what I was saying. It is my life goal to help people better understand God’s revealed Word in the Bible, and to walk with them as they try to apply scripture to life in this ever-changing world we live in. My wife and I value every life God allows us to minister with. We also realize every life has a story that is written page by page, chapter by chapter, and is revealed as that person wants others to read their life story. We would love to know your life story . . . or at least see the first page when you are ready.

Hi, My name is Tina Irish I am the Children and Youth Director  at Island Kids Ministry here @ Kure Beach First Baptist Church. I am so blessed and humbled to have been called to this church and ministry in Nov of 2023. I have a passion and drive for all things kids & youth ministry. I have over 15 years of experience working in both youth & kids ministry and I'm still loving every minute!! I am the wife to my awesome husband Jon & a mom of 4 amazing children. We live here on the island and love every thing about our little island!  You can often find us out walking our Golden doodle dog Teddy around the neighborhoods and hanging on the beach. We are a family that loves community and are always looking to explore new places. We have been so blessed to be a part of this church community and even more blessed that I get to call this my Job! How amazing is that, to follow the Lord's calling on your life and enjoy every single moment of ministry!

Our Worship Leader

Our worship leader is Greg Vibbert. Greg is a veteran of the US Navy and has worked in various fields throughout his working career but has always sought to serve the Lord and His church with his musical gifts. Greg leads our worship team, utilizing the various gifts people have, leading our congregation in the worship of God each Sunday. Greg welcomes new talent, regardless of experience level, and finds an appropriate place to use people’s gifts in the ministry. Our Elder Body

All authority in the church comes from the resurrected Jesus Christ and is exercised on His behalf. According to the Scriptures, Jesus is the “Chief Shepherd” of God’s church (1 Peter 5:1-5), but He has invested the authority and responsibility of church leadership to “under-shepherds”. These under-shepherds are referred to in the scriptures with three interchangeable words: elder, pastor, and overseer. At KBFBC our Senior Pastor, together with 4-6 lay Elders leads the church as under shepherds. Each Elder, including the pastor is an equal among each other, meaning no Elder is above the others. Our Elders seek to serve God and the congregation by leading in 4 main ways: Prayer, Oversight of Spiritual Matters, General Management of the Church and providing wise counsel to the pastor.
